Belgian Horses

Belgium are a leading equestrian nation and lead in many equestrian sports especially in show jumping, the BWP studbook has produced some outstanding warmblood horses including the legendary breeding stallion Darco. Belgium is also home to Zangersheide stud one of the most succesful showjumping breeders in the world.

As well as being home of sport horses and warmblood horses belgium is home to a breed of draft horses called Brabant Brabant.

The Belgian draft or sometimes still called Brabant Brabant, is a breed of horse native of Belgium , born from the merger of several populations of horses pulling present on Belgian territory in 1886 , the Flemish horse , the Brabant (the heavier), the condroz (average model), and the Belgian Ardennes (the lightest).

She knows a great success during the era of the horse, exported to many countries, including the United States where it is known as strain Belgian. As with all breeds of draft horses, the automation of agriculture has caused a sharp decline in its breeding.

Multiple populations of horses behind the Belgian draft are all from the "branch-Flemish Ardenno," from which also feature Dutch or the Ardennes , is this horse since prehistoric times over a vast territory corresponding to the former Belgian Gaul .
